We are looking for reviewers of all ages who can share their opinion with our patrons,
on the books they have read. Our patrons would welcome your suggestions on which
books, in your humble opinion, are good, great and not so great.
There is no charge for Vance County residents to obtain a full privilege library
card.
A picture ID and proof of your current address is required in order to obtain a
library card. Those under the age of 18 must have a parent, step-parent, grandparent,
or legal guardian sign the library card application.
Out of County residents are charged a $10.00 annual fee for a full privilege library
card. Computer-use only library cards are free to anyone. These cards only allow
the cardholder to use a library computer. They do not allow the cardholder to check
out materials.
There is a $2.00 replacement charge for a lost library card.
Loan Periods
All library materials, except DVD’s, check out for 3 weeks and may be renewed twice.
DVD’s check out for two weeks. Items with holds placed on them cannot be renewed.
If we do not have a book that you need we may be able to order it through Interlibrary
Loan. The cost for this service is $2.00 per item borrowed.
Overdue & Lost Material Charges
A fine of $.10 per day is charged for overdue magazines up to a maximum of $1 per
item. A fine of $1.00 per day is charged for overdue DVDs, Wii games, and Playaway
video viewers, up to a maximum of $2.50 per item. All other materials have a fine
rate of $.10 per day with a maximum fine of $2.50 per item.
Charges for lost materials includes the replacement or current cost of the materials
PLUS a processing fee. Fees are also charged for repairs or replacement of damaged
items

BROWSE OR SEARCH THE CATALOG
You will see that there are several different ways to conduct your search. Depending
on what you are looking for one method may work better than another. Try typing into
the Search Box or click on the "Search Catalog," "Browse Catalog," or "Combination
Search" buttons. Click on our Friendly Green Robot for a colorful search of our children's
collection.
RENEW BOOKS & MANAGE YOUR ACCOUNT
Use the "My Account" button to renew books. To access your record enter the barcode
on your library card into the Patron/Alternate ID box and the last four digits of
your barcode as the Pin Number. You will see a list of books that you have checked
out and/or placed on hold. You will have the opportunity to renew check out items,
check on the status of an item placed on hold and change your pin number. You may
renew items only one time.
PLACE A HOLD ON AN ITEM
If you find a book while browsing or searching the catalog and you see that it is
checked out, you can place a hold in one of two ways depending on the screen you
are viewing. In list mode a "Place Hold" button is located to the left of the title.
In an individual book's record use the "Hold Request" button located on the right
side of the button display. You will be asked to enter the barcode on your library
card.

Perry Memorial Library has had a long and successful facilities and resource sharing
partnership with the educational community of Vance County. Our spacious and secure
Youth Services Department is lead by the Assistant Director of the Perry Memorial
Library and Director of Youth Services, Patti McAnally.
Patti McAnally, Assistant Director of Perry Memorial Library and Director of Youth
Services, helps direct the creative process of eager youth patrons.

The Perry Memorial Library has a long tradition of providing needed services and
resources to the Vance County community. In keeping with this record of service
and in an effort to improve upon what has been accomplished in the past the following
goals have been established for the library for the coming months:
