Internet Access Policy
The H. Leslie Perry Memorial Library welcomes you to public access Internet service.
Our purpose is to offer a useful resource which gives all library users access
to information not otherwise available in the library, thereby augmenting existing
library materials. The library addresses Internet safety issues through its INTERNET
ACCESS POLICY and PARENTAL PERMISSION AGREEMENT. Please
read these policies and procedures carefully. By signing an Internet Use Agreement,
you agree to abide by the library's policy.
Internet use requires basic skills. Library staff cannot provide in-depth training
but are available to help with general questions about Internet use as time
permits.
Internet connection is available during library hours. Internet computers will
be shut down thirty (30) minutes before the library closes.
DISCLAIMER
To support the library's mission to meet community needs for information and
lifelong learning, electronic resources including Internet access are available
for public use. Internet sites provide information and ideas without regulation
of any kind. The Internet is a global entity with a highly diverse user population
and library customers use it at their own risk. The Perry Library has no control
over these resources, and is not responsible for the authority, accuracy, suitability,
or legality of their contents. Nor can the library control access points which
often change rapidly and unpredictably. Provision of Internet resources is not
an endorsement of their content by the library.
The library cannot be responsible for protecting users from materials they
may find offensive. Internet users are responsible for the appropriateness of
the access points (websites) they reach. Each user must agree to the library's
conditions for acceptable use. Parent's must assume responsibility for their
minor children's use of the library's Internet connection.
Accuracy of information found on the Internet is the responsibility of each
producer or distributor. If you feel that information obtained via the Internet
is inaccurate or offensive you may contact the originator of that information.
Often the information you need is available in other sources within the library.
The library assumes no responsibility for any damages or losses of any nature
whatsoever, direct or indirect, arising from its Internet connection. Although
the library uses a virus-checker on its Internet computers, this may not completely
prevent downloading or distributing a virus.
