A2C Peace was inducted into the U.S. Air Force on ______ and served with the 779th Troop Carrier Squadron, 317th Wing based at Pope Air Force Base, Pope Field, North Carolina.
On the evening of 25 March 1965, USAF C-130E Hercules 63-7797 of the 779th Troop Carrier Squadron, 317th Wing, Pope Air Force Base, flying for the 464th Troop Carrier Wing at Evreux, France, hit a high-tension line on a ridge top and crashed near Alençon, France, killing all seven crew.
Airman Second Class Alwin Wyche Peace is buried in the Taylor Family Cemetery, Kittrell, Vance County, North Carolina.
